Nonprofit workers struggle to make ends meet

By ELAINE INGALLS January 28, 2020 More than half of nonprofit workers in Santa Cruz County need to work more than one job to survive, according to a recent survey report. The 2019 Human Care Alliance Nonprofit Wage and Benefit survey report shows that 62% of nonprofit employees cannot survive working one job. Second jobs include clerks at gas stations and grocery stores, serving and other hospitality jobs that offer flexible weekend hours, according to Raymon Cancino, CEO of nonprofit Community Bridges.
