We are assisting fired janitors from Preferred Building Services Inc. Yunuen, Claudia, Balbina, and Joel were fired for picketing against the company that often paid them less than the minimum wage, violated their rights to organize, sexually discriminated and harassed them, denied them meal breaks and insurance, failed to provide sick leave, and engaged in wage theft. Low wage workers deserve the right to organize and to fight for safe and fair working conditions.

We worked for Preferred Building Services. We got paid the San Francisco minimum wage, sometimes less. We endured abusive and unsafe working conditions and sexual harassment. The work involved heavy lifting and the risk of serious injury. A foreman arbitrarily cut hours from eight hours per day to six hours and said that any additional hours would need to include sexual favors. The company does not provide paid sick days that are required by San Francisco law or pay medical bills for injuries on the job as required by workers compensation.
