NRL players want guaranteed super funds

Disappointed NRL players have demanded the league guarantee retirement funds following revelations it withheld $10 million super payments in the last two years.
The players' union will again meet with the governing body on Tuesday as it attempts to broker a financial plan during the competition shutdown.
Players are expected to take a 75 per cent pay cut from the remaining seven months of the contractual year in a bid to ensure the survival of the game.
Should the coronavirus wipe out the entire season, all 480 contracted players have been guaranteed two months' full pay for the next seven months.

The union representing many of New Zealand's supermarket workers says a 10 per cent bonus for those who work through the Covid-19 pandemic good, but should be permanent.
Foodstuffs last night announced that they will be giving the bonus to all waged front-line, distribution and transport employees who continue to work through the Covid-19 lockdown.
Their supermarkets include Pak'nSave, New World and Four Square.
"This is in recognition of their willingness to ensure New Zealanders' grocery needs are met and for the tireless commitment they continue to show," Foodstuffs said in a statement.

UC Berkeley will become familiar with term “digital picket” this week, as graduate students, who are already working from home because of the coronavirus, begin a work stoppage Monday.
The student workers are going on a “wildcat” strike — meaning it hasn’t been authorized by UAW 2865, the UC graduate student union representing some 19,000 workers — to demand cost-of-living pay adjustments and the rehiring of dozens of their counterparts who have been fired from UC Santa Cruz.

New Report Details Wages Lost Due to Theft in Nail Salon Industry

A new report says nail salon workers are having their wages stolen at an alarming rate.
So what is being done about it? CBS2’s Nick Caloway found out on Tuesday.
Having long been victims of harsh working conditions and wage theft, nail salon workers now hope their voices are heard.
“I’d end up working seven days a week to get paid $200 to $300,” worker Miriam Reyes said.
Reyes is not the only one.
A study released Tuesday by the New York Nail Salon Workers Association shows a staggering amount — 80% — of those employees are experiencing wage theft.
