SF’s Minimum Compensation Ordinance:

• requires $10.77 per hour ($9 per hour for non-profits), 12 paid days off per year for sick leave, vacation or personal necessity and 10 unpaid days off for sick leave or illness of family member;


• covers an employee who works four hours per week in the City or 10 hours per week outside of the City for a contractor or any subcontractor, and any entity it owns or controls or is owned or controlled by that has more than 20 employees and has contracts with the City and County of San Francisco that are cumulatively $25,000 or more ($50,000 or more for non-profits);


• covers an employee who works 10 hours or more in a two-week pay period on any lease or concession at San Francisco airport exceeding 29 days in a year or any sublease or service contract with that lease;


• the law takes effect when the contract is renewed or modified.
(exclusions or waivers: purchase or lease of goods, some litigation contracts, some investment management, some grants or special funds such as for low-income housing; exclusions for non-profits: under 18 years old who is an after-school or summer employee, in employment training program leading to permanent position, disabled employee; wavers for sole source, only bidder, some public health or safety emergencies, some essential services, bulk purchasing, some public utilities, some collective bargaining agreements; waiver for non profits: if it causes economic hardship and negative impact on services an highest paid management position is not paid more than six times the lowest wage employee).
